This contribution deals with an approach on ontology-based integration of Decision Support Systems for Structural Health Monitoring, which is the implementation of a damage detection strategy to identify and localize damages in the (civil) infrastructure (e.g., bridges, piping systems, wind turbines …). Thereby, different institutions operate a large variety of systems for measurement planning, recording and analysis and each of these systems has its advantages and disadvantages depending e.g., on the type of a regarded structure. To combine the advantages of individual systems, computer supported collaboration is useful and therefore, each institution considers developing its own domain ontology. Furthermore, this knowledge can be integrated by mapping the individual domain ontologies by means of a higher level ontology. On account of this, a concept for an ontology-based integration was developed, which bases on ideas of semantic data integration but defers from typical approaches concerning the use of a single ontology as meta-vocabulary and a mediator-driven architecture.
