Abstract

Often it is necessary to quickly create software prototypes, especially in research. The CBR frameworks jCOLIBRI and myCBR try to support fast prototyping for Case-based Reasoning. This work tries to compare these frameworks focusing on case base design in the frame of a support system for cash machines and works out their strengths and weaknesses. Both frameworks are introduced and applied on the same use case from the field of helpdesk sys-tems. While myCBR tries to support the developer defining the knowledge rep-resentation framework in the form of the case base design (concepts, attributes, and similarity measures), jCOLIBRI provides concepts for designing a func-tional CBR application. It also supports case base design, but in a much less powerful way then myCBR does. Due to that, to get these two frameworks compared objectively, this contribution focuses on case base design phase of Case-based Reasoning System development.
